Safety Manager
WELBRO Building Corporation has a career opportunity for a Safety Manager in the Central Florida area. The individual will direct and implement the company’s safety program to ensure a safe, healthy and accident-free work environment. Primary responsibilities include safety education, job site inspections and reporting, and assisting in worker’s compensation issues.
Responsibilities:
- Keeps current on the latest OSHA construction safety regulations and makes recommendations for their implementation
- Serves as the site’s primary safety resource and subject matter expert for hazard control strategies
- Communicates safety and training-related issues in monthly managers meetings and as required by Operations Department personnel.
- Performs jobsite safety compliance inspections which includes documenting hazards, writing reports, taking photos, and making recommendations for corrective action.
- Monitors subcontractors and WELBRO employees adherence to company safety program.
- Plans, organizes, and conducts training programs for WELBRO’s site management employees and craft population employees regarding HAZCOM, Personal Protection Equipment, CPR, First Aid, Trench Safety, and more.
- Maintains and updates project-specific safety plans, job hazard analyses, and emergency action plans.
- Ensures timely completion of accident and injury reporting to internal departments and outside agencies.
- Leads the company’s reporting responsibilities in an Owner Controlled Insurance Program (OCIP).
- Acts as liaison between craft employee population and management regarding Workers Compensation and return-to-work issues.
- Oversees implementation of a hurricane and disaster preparedness program in coordination with all impacted departments.
Requirements:
- Associates degree or equivalent years of technical training preferred but not required.
- Seven (7) years experience working for a commercial general contractor in a supervisory role.
- Four (4)years experience in a safety compliance capacity for a general contractor.
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to effectively communicate with field supervisors, craft employees, and subcontractors.
- Proven track record of implementing and enforcing OSHA 29 CFR 1926 standards and other applicable safety regulations
- Strong understanding of construction means and methods, equipment operation, and trade-specific hazards
- Ability to recognize hazardous situations and implement corrective measures.
- Capable of maintaining accurate safety documentation, reports, and inspection logs
- Proficiency in incident investigation and root cause analysis
- Comprehensive understanding of Workers Compensation regulations and the working knowledge of loss control measures.
- Working knowledge of desktop computers and applications.
- Understanding of the complexities of multi-employer worksites.
