Project Accountant II

WELBRO has a full-time career opportunity for a Project Accountant II or Senior Project Accountant in our corporate office located in Maitland, Florida. Commercial general contractor experience preferred.  The candidate will be responsible for performing the complete scope of project payable accounting from inception through job close-out and warranty period for multiple and/or large construction projects. Responsible for all job cost related accounting, including assisting Project Manager with setting up of initial project budgets and establishing proper cost coding procedures, accurate entry and tracking of budget, fee, burden, labor, material and subcontract costs. Accurate entry and tracking of committed costs through the accounting software. Reviewing all job cost and committed cost in a timely fashion to enable Project Managers to complete monthly Project Status Reports on time in accordance with established accounting cycles.  Professional development opportunities are available. Key Duties

  • Handle all aspects of construction payables, including coding, and maintenance of job cost
  • Process subcontractor’s payment applications and all material invoices for assigned projects
  • Perform monthly review of job cost activity ensuring consistent and proper coding
  • Communicate routinely with Project Managers on a variety of job related topics including bonding, insurance and contract agreements
  • Properly collect and track all compliance items for vendors and subcontractors, including Notice to Owner information, insurance requirements, W-9 Information, Drug-free and all properly signed documents
  • Prepare all required weekly, monthly and annual reports in an accurate and timely fashion

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Florida Lien Law
  • Familiar with Florida sales tax rules/accrual
  • 3+ years of experience in job cost accounting for a firm in the building construction industry preferably; commercial general contractor experience preferred
  • Experienced with Notice to Owner, lien releases, and AP
  • Must possess strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience in Vista by Viewpoint (now called Trimble), Paperless Environments, and/or BIM 360 is a plus
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, especially Excel, is required
