Project Engineer

WELBRO Building Corporation has a great opportunity for a Project Engineer in Central Florida for our hospitality, education, industrial, or special services division. The candidate will initially be responsible for providing technical and documentation support to Sr. Project Manager and Project Superintendent in resolving issues and expediting appropriate information among client, A/E, and project team. Key Duties

  • Submittals – Review, coordinate, and track all civil, architectural, structural, and MEP submittals and shop drawings; notify Project Manager if Architect’s comments on a returned submittal constitutes a change, thereby needing a Cost Event
  • RFI Process – Identify, research and develop solutions to problems, conflicts, interferences and errors/omissions for the Superintendent and/or Project Manager
  • Coordination – Assist in the coordination process to ensure the MEP systems fit within the building structure
  • Field Work – Monitor field work of all trades to ensure adherence to company standards, codes, drawings, owner contract, specifications, and sub/vendor scope of work
  • Research and preparation of field change requests to resolve design issues for approval
  • Material Tracking – create a sub and vendor material tracking log including the required delivery dates and track the dates
  • Document Control – Maintain contract document record control and retention for the project; ensure all team members have updated drawings; review sub’s as-built drawings
  • Utilize project management program to create and maintain cost event & change order log and expediting change orders
  • Assist Project Manager in the change order process including investigating  all change order requests and ensuring relevant information is disseminated appropriately
  • Participate in jobsite meetings and create meeting minutes (when necessary) and maintain liaison with owner, design professionals, subcontractors, and vendors to facilitate construction activities.

Qualifications:

 

  • B.S. Degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, or Civil Engineering
  • 1+ years experience in similar role or internship(s) for a general contractor performing vertical commercial construction work
  • Experience in building construction required
  • Excellent communication and organizing skills
  • High proficiency in project management applications necessary
  • Integrity, tenacity, demonstrated ability to succeed, and the attitude to do what it takes to meet and/or exceed client expectations
