Project Engineer
WELBRO Building Corporation has a great opportunity for a Project Engineer in Central Florida for our hospitality, education, industrial, or special services division. The candidate will initially be responsible for providing technical and documentation support to Sr. Project Manager and Project Superintendent in resolving issues and expediting appropriate information among client, A/E, and project team. Key Duties
- Submittals: Use PM software to track, review, coordinate, and distribute all civil architectural, structural, and MEP submittals and shop drawings. Ensure clear information flow between all disciplines. Generate submittal log based on the Contract Documents. Requests submittals from subs. Develop and distribute outstanding submittal log to ensure timely review and return of submittals from the design team. Notify the PM if Architect’s comment on a returned submittal constitutes a change, thereby needing to create a cost event.
- RFI Process: Use PM software to track, create, and distribute RFIs. Identify, research, and develop solutions to problems, conflicts, interferences, and errors/omissions for the Site Manager or Project Manager. Provide necessary pictures and sketches to convey problems. Develop and distribute RFI logs to ensure timely review and return of RFIs by the design team. Notify the Project Manager if the Architect’s reply to an RFI constitutes a change, thereby needing to create a Cost Event.
- Coordination: Under the direction of the PM, manage the coordination process to ensure the MEP Systems fit within the building structure.
- Field Work: Dedicate a significant portion of the week in the field to become familiar with the monitoring of field work of all trades to ensure compliance with company standards, procedures, codes, drawings, specifications, the Owner contract, qualifications and the subcontractor’s or vendor’s scope of work.
- Jobsite Meetings: Attend owner/contractor/architect/engineer/subcontractor meetings as requested and where appropriate, create the meeting minutes documenting what occurred at the meeting.
- Material Tracking: With participation from the WELBRO Team, create a sub and vendor material tracking log including the required delivery dates and track the dates on no less than a weekly basis.
- Document Control: Electronically implement and maintain total contract document record control and retention for the project in PM software and physically on site. This includes posting RFIs to drawings. Ensure all team members have current, updated drawings. Coordinate with Project Management to ensure drawings have been approved by the AHJ as required. Review subcontractor’s as-built drawings.
- Document Review: Provide timely and accurate interpretation of design documents and identify any areas of conflict or incomplete information. Review noted concerns with the PM, and at the PM’s direction, address the issues through the RFI process.
- Preplan: Assist in establishing the project preplan by providing input on objectives, procedures, and performance standards.
Problem Solving: Where the individual’s experience allows, research and develop solutions to problems, conflicts, interference and errors for the benefit of the Site and/or Project Manager. - Quality Control: Ensure established quality control procedures are implemented for the project to verify that project aligns with Contract Documents.
- Closeout Documents: Generate closeout documents based on the Contract Documents. Assist Project Coordinator with collection of closeout documents from subcontractors.
- Punch List: Enter items into PM software. Generate and distribute punch list reports as required. Assist field staff with execution of items.
