WELBRO Completes the New Orleans Hyatt Regency

10/21/2011 - New Orleans, LA

October  2011, Orlando FL: Closed since Hurricane Katrina rampaged through New Orleans back in August 2005, the New Orleans Hyatt Regency Hotel celebrated its grand opening after renovations and upgrades by WELBRO Building Corporation and joint venture partner, DonahueFavret Contractors, Inc. The grand opening ceremony was held on October 19, 2011 in true New Orleans style with a second line band and thousands of balloons released into the New Orleans sky.

Located in the heart of New Orleans’ Central Business District, this icon of downtown was completed in 15 months from start to finish. The hotel has a brand new main lobby and registration area, 200,000 square feet of renovated meeting space, four new dining venues including a new 7,600 square foot John Besh Restaurant, shops, pool, spa, fitness center and is a five minute walk to the newly named Mercedes Benz Superdome.

The Hyatt’s reopening also coincides with some big events at the Dome and Arena including -- the Bowl Championship Series (BCS) in early 2012 and the Super Bowl and NCAA men’s Final Four in 2013. The new entrance now located on Loyola Street will be viewed by all the riders on the new street car line extension that is currently under construction.   The hotel has a very contemporary and upbeat design and is a great addition to the New Orleans area.
