WELBRO Building Corporation Kicks off New School Year at Apopka Elementary

9/14/2006 - Orlando, FL

September 2006, Orlando FL: WELBRO Building Corporation through the Orange County Public Schools Partners in Education program continues their relationship with Apopka Elementary School in the 2006 school year.

WELBRO Associates and subcontractors donated over $5,000.00 in school supplies and $1,770.00 in $50 Gift Cards to the school on August 16th, following a month long opportunity for associates to drop off school supplies at designated areas at all WELBRO job sites and the corporate headquarters office. From book bags to glue to copy paper and notebooks, 5 plastic bins of supplies were personally delivered to the school by WELBRO Associates and President Steve Davis.

Much to the surprise of WELBRO Associates, Principal, Roxann Paulsen had kept the teachers after school and assembled them in the Media Center. Their dedication to teaching was apparent as was their appreciation for the partnership between the school and WELBRO. Steve Davis, President of WELBRO informed the school staff that “WELBRO is pleased to be able to give back to the community and especially through an opportunity that helps young people achieve.” “In 2005, low performance at the school declined, and as our partnership continues we expect to see even greater performance by the students,” says Pat Werner, Vice President of Community and Economic Development for WELBRO. ‘We wanted to adopt a school that needed help raising their FCAT scores and that is what we hope to accomplish through this partnership” says Werner.

In 2005 WELBRO Associates mentored second graders at Apopka Elementary and also conducted a Book Drive. The 2006 school year started with a Teacher Appreciation Breakfast the first week of school followed by the School Supply Drive. Other activities will continue throughout the 2006 school year.

Recognition was given to WELBRO subcontractors: Tri-City Electrical Contractors, Inc., Roebuck Construction Services, Bright Future Electric, Inc., Central Florida Heating and Air Conditioning, T&T Construction of Central Florida, Miller Plastering & Stucco, Cronin Construction, Gravity Systems, Perry Roofing, Ron Peeper Wall Systems and Region South Enterprises, who all were instrumental in donating dollars that were turned into $50 gift cards for teachers to use at either Office Depot or Tools for Teaching.

WELBRO Building Corporation has been building continuously in the Florida commercial construction market for over 27 years and is consistently ranked among the nation’s top contractors by Engineering News Record (ENR). WELBRO is a dominant force in the hotel/hospitality and education markets. Other major project types include office buildings, retail/commercial and special use facilities.
