September 2007, Orlando FL: Governor Crist made a surprise visit to congratulate the students and staff at Apopka Elementary for a job well done. An “A” rated school for the first time made Governor Crist took notice of the school’s hard work. The Governor visited Ms. Oliveira’s bilingual class, Ms. Strizhiver’s sheltered class and Mrs. Howard’s class. Governor Crist met with selected students and participated in a question and answer session.

Local media and other dignitaries were also in attendance including Ron Blocker, Superintendent of Orange County Schools and our area superintendent Dr. Cathy Pope! “Thanks to WELBRO Building Corporation for supporting Apopka Elementary for the past three years as our Partner in Education. With their partnership we have made great gains!” stated, Principal, Roxann Paulson.
